Honest disclosure. “Free” here means the free version with the miners on, but during your free trial the miners stay off. The miners use part of the VM’s processor and add to your electricity use; see the electricity-cost article below.
How the miners work
In the free version, a cryptocurrency miner runs inside the RepairAmigo virtual machine while it is on. It is capped at 90% of the VM’s processor (not your whole computer), and the RepairAmigo app keeps priority, so shop work comes first.
The miner only runs while the RepairAmigo VM is running.
For estimated electricity use and cost running 24/7, read What RepairAmigo’s built-in miner costs you in electricity.
How the paid unlock works
- Download and install RepairAmigo as usual (one-click installer for Windows PCs or Intel Macs, or the VM).
- Sign in as Owner. Open Owners Only → Paid Version.
- Pay the amount shown in the app for that installation to the address shown there (currently US $99).
- RepairAmigo’s portal confirms the payment (not the VM itself).
- After confirmation, the Paid Version license begins for that installation. The owner can turn the miners off with the Owners-only control, and can turn them back on with the same control.
The price is the one shown in the app when you buy; it is currently US $99.
Frequently asked questions
Is RepairAmigo free?
Yes. You can download RepairAmigo and use it free, forever. The free version runs built-in crypto miners in the background while the RepairAmigo VM is on. Want them off? Pay once inside the app (currently US $99) and the owner can turn the miners off. Same features either way. See Free or Paid and what the miner costs in electricity.
What does Paid include that Free does not?
The same shop features. The difference is the miners: after a portal-verified one-time payment (currently US $99), the owner can turn the miners off. It is a one-time payment for that installation, not a subscription.
How do I pay?
Inside the app only: Owners Only → Paid Version. Pay the price shown in the app (currently US $99). The portal confirms the payment, then the owner can turn the miners off.
Will the miners slow down my shop?
They run inside the VM, capped at 90% of the VM’s processor, and the RepairAmigo app keeps priority. For electricity estimates, see the miner electricity-cost article.
Will I get new version upgrades?
Paid versions are eligible for new version upgrades; Free versions aren't. No specific features or dates are promised.
Does one payment cover every computer?
No. A paid license is for one shop’s own use: that paid installation and its backup copies or clones. Copies given to anyone else are not covered.
Can I move RepairAmigo to another computer?
Back up the entire VM and run it on another computer as easily as you installed it. A backup copy or clone of a paid VM keeps its paid status. A new download or a new version starts unpaid: import your data with the Migration Package, then enter the free one-time transfer code from your paid install. The Migration Package moves your data; the transfer code moves the paid status.
Where do I download?
From the download page: Windows installer v1.0.1 for Windows PCs and installer v1.0.1 for Intel Macs (macOS 10.13+; Apple Silicon is not supported). Linux (64-bit x86): no installer; install VirtualBox yourself and import the OVA from the download page. VM v1.12.
