Built for the counter

Software made for phone, computer and console repair counters

Most “shop software” is built for auto garages or field-service crews. RepairAmigo is built for the counter where someone hands you a cracked phone, a laptop that won’t boot or a console with a dead HDMI port, and wants a price right now.

  • Intake in seconds. Returning customers come up by phone number. Device, brand and model pickers and per-device problem lists keep every intake the same, and the receipt prints with a barcode.
  • Prices that don’t depend on who is at the counter. Labor, parts and tax come from your own price list, with aftermarket and premium screen tiers, minimum labor and add-ons. Missing prices are flagged, never guessed.
  • Parts that count themselves. Saving a repair deducts the screen or part from inventory, and low or negative stock shows up on the ticket.
  • Customers who don’t have to call. Turn on optional texting and customers get a text when their device is received, needs their input, or is ready for pick-up. You connect your shop’s own Twilio account and pay Twilio directly for messages.
  • The back office, too. Cash and safe balances, Owner, Manager and Technician roles with change logs, commission tracking per tech, built-in warranty returns and reports.

RepairAmigo is free and self-hosted: it runs as one virtual machine in the free VirtualBox software, on a Windows, Linux or Intel Mac computer in your shop, and your team opens it in a browser on any computer, tablet or phone on the shop network. Your shop, your server, your data.

RepairAmigo gives repair shops the same core tools they’d otherwise pay a monthly subscription for (repair tickets, inventory, a point of sale for cash sales, and reports), for free. If you’ve used tools like RepairShopr or RepairDesk, RepairAmigo covers the same everyday work, free.

Requirements

What you need

Minimum requirements: a host computer with at least 16 GB of RAM and at least 8 CPU threads: a 64-bit computer with an Intel or AMD processor running Windows 10/11, Linux or macOS (Intel Macs only). The RepairAmigo VM itself uses 8 CPUs and 8 GB of RAM; the rest keeps the VM and the computer running smoothly. A wired connection to your shop network is best.
  • A computer that stays on during business hours and meets the minimums above: at least 16 GB of RAM and 8 CPU threads, so the VM gets its 8 CPUs and 8 GB.
  • The free VirtualBox software. The setup guide shows every step, with screenshots.
  • Your shop network, so staff can open RepairAmigo in a browser on any computer, tablet or phone in the shop.
Mac with Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4)? Not supported. The RepairAmigo VM is built for Intel/AMD (x86-64) processors. Use a Windows or Linux PC, or an Intel Mac.
Questions

Common questions

Is RepairAmigo really free?

Yes. RepairAmigo is free to download and use, with no subscription and no credit card. By default the built-in XMR and Tari miners stay on. They run on the RepairAmigo virtual machine itself, use up to 40% of the VM's CPU, and start only after you accept the in-app EULA. That is how the software pays for itself. If you'd rather turn the miners off, you can. Shops that do pay 1% of gross revenue instead. You choose which way works for your shop.

What kind of repair shops is it for?

Cell phone, computer and console repair shops. It was built inside one, and it has processed more than 50,000 repair tickets there.

Is it cloud software?

No. RepairAmigo is self-hosted. It runs as a virtual machine on a computer in your shop, and staff open it in a web browser on the shop network. Your data stays on your computer, and the Owner can export it at any time.

Does it work on phones and tablets?

Yes, in the browser. Any phone, tablet or computer on the shop network can open it, with the same rules and prices. There’s no app-store app; you can add it to the home screen.

Is RepairAmigo available in Spanish?

Yes. There is a separate Spanish edition of RepairAmigo, with the app in Spanish. It is its own edition, not a language switch inside the English app.

When can I download it?

RepairAmigo is coming soon.
