Point of sale

Point of sale for phone repair shops: one counter, one system

A phone repair counter does three things at once: it checks in broken devices, hands back finished ones, and sells cases, chargers and screen protectors to walk-ins. A retail point of sale handles only the last one. When repairs live in a notebook and accessory sales live in a register, the end-of-day count rarely matches.

Checklist

A point of sale for a repair shop should have:

  1. Checkout from the repair ticket. The amount due comes from the same ticket created at intake. See the repair ticketing system guide.
  2. Pricing from your own price list, with labor, parts and tax, so every employee quotes the same.
  3. A quick cash sale screen for accessories and walk-ins.
  4. Live inventory that deducts parts used in repairs as well as items sold. See parts inventory tracking.
  5. Cash drawer management with an end-of-day cash count.
  6. Roles and change logs, so the owner can see who changed a price.
  7. Warranty returns linked to the original repair (warranty repair tickets).
  8. Daily reports on repairs, sales and technician commissions.

How RepairAmigo handles it

RepairAmigo is free software for phone, computer and console repair shops, built inside a busy repair shop that has processed more than 50,000 repair tickets. Intake, instant pricing, a cash sale screen (Cash POS), live screen and parts inventory, register and safe cash management, Owner/Manager/Technician roles with change logs, optional commission on protective case sales, warranty returns and reports all live in one system. It runs as a virtual machine in free VirtualBox on a Windows, Linux or Intel Mac computer in your shop, and staff use it from any browser on the shop network. A full Spanish edition is available. For repair commissions, see our guide to technician commissions.
