This guide goes job by job. It is written for phone and tablet repair counters, not for field-service crews or auto shops.
Screens: one price and stock count per model
Screens are most of the work and most of the money on the shelf. Software should keep one screen price per model and show whether that model's screen is in stock before the counter quotes a same-day repair. When the tech saves the repair, the screen should come out of inventory on that ticket. If you buy more than one screen grade, how to explain the difference to customers is in phone screen quality grades.
Batteries: a quick job that still needs a record
Battery swaps are fast, which is exactly why they go unrecorded. Each one should still get a ticket with the model, the battery used and the date, so a warranty return weeks later has a history. A step-by-step routine is in battery replacement workflow.
Charging ports: diagnose before you quote
Many "bad port" phones only need cleaning, and some are really a battery or board problem. A problem list per device type helps the counter record what the customer reports without promising the wrong repair. See charging port repair tickets and how to diagnose phone problems.
Water damage: quote in steps
Water damage jobs rarely have one price up front. Software should let you record a diagnostic first, add a status such as "waiting on customer" and update the quote once you know more. That keeps the customer informed and the ticket honest. More in water damage repair quotes.
IMEI, condition and pickup
Every phone that comes in should be identifiable later. Record the IMEI or serial number and the condition at drop-off on the ticket, and close it at pickup with the repair performed and the amount paid. That one habit settles most "this scratch wasn't there before" arguments. See IMEI tracking for repair shops.
Quick checklist
- Each phone model has its screen price and stock count.
- Parts come out of inventory when the repair is saved.
- Every battery swap gets its own ticket.
- Each device type has its own problem list at intake.
- Water damage tickets can move through diagnostic and quote statuses.
- IMEI or serial and drop-off condition are on every ticket.
- Warranty returns link back to the original repair.
- The counter and the bench see the same status.
How RepairAmigo helps
RepairAmigo is free repair shop software for cell phone, computer and console repair shops. It was built inside a busy repair shop that has processed more than 50,000 repair tickets. Made in Texas.
- Smart intake. Device, brand and model pickers, problem lists per device type, and returning customers found by phone number. Each check-in prints a receipt with a barcode.
- Live inventory. Screens by model (one screen price per model), plus batteries, ports, cameras and more. Parts deduct automatically when a repair is saved, with low and negative stock warnings.
- Repair workflow. Technicians record the repair performed, a status and comments. Statuses are custom and reorderable.
- Instant pricing. Labor, parts and tax are calculated when the problem is picked, so every quote is the same whoever is at the counter.
- Warranty built in. Warranty returns link back to the original repair and get priority.
- Optional customer texts. Through your own Twilio account, texts can go out when a device is received, needs input or is ready for pickup.
- Your data. Records stay on your own machine. Back up the entire VM and run it on another computer as easily as you installed it. The Owner can also use Management → Owner Only → Export Data for an extra data-only copy (SQL backup, or CSV tables you can open in Excel) and keep it off the machine.
It runs as a VirtualBox virtual machine on a Windows, Linux or Intel Mac computer in your shop, and your team uses it from any browser on the shop network, on desktop or mobile. A full Spanish edition is available. Read why a local VM is safer.

FAQ
What is mobile repair shop software?
It is software for phone and tablet repair counters that handles intake, repair tickets, parts inventory, pricing, customer updates and pickup in one place.
Is "mobile repair" the same as "cell phone repair"?
Yes. Shops in the US usually say cell phone repair, and many other countries say mobile repair. The work and the software are the same.
Do I need separate software for screens and batteries?
No. One system should track every part on the same tickets, so screens, batteries, ports and cameras all come out of the same inventory.
Is RepairAmigo free?
Yes. RepairAmigo is free. It runs on your own computer with VirtualBox, and your data stays in your shop.
