Check your computer first
| Your computer | Use |
|---|---|
| Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit | Windows installer (RepairAmigo-Setup.exe) |
| Mac with an Intel processor, macOS 10.13 or later | Mac installer (RepairAmigo-Setup-Mac.dmg) |
| Mac with an Apple M1, M2, M3 or M4 chip | Not supported. Install RepairAmigo on a Windows PC instead. |
Which Mac do I have?
- Click the Apple menu, then About This Mac.
- If it shows Processor with Intel in the name, your Mac can run RepairAmigo.
- If it shows Chip with Apple M1, M2, M3 or M4, it can't run the RepairAmigo VM. Run RepairAmigo on a Windows PC; your Mac can still open it in a browser on the shop network.
Install on Windows
- On the Download page, click Download Windows installer. You get
RepairAmigo-Setup.exe(version 1.0.1, 159.6 KB). - Double-click the file. Windows shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen. Click More info, then Run anyway.
- At the administrator prompt (“Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?”), click Yes.
- Choose your language. The installer installs VirtualBox if it is not already there (your network may drop for a moment while it does), downloads the RepairAmigo VM (about 1.3 GB, so it can take a while), imports it, sets bridged networking and starts it.
- When it finishes, RepairAmigo opens in your browser. Run Setup and create the Owner account.
Why does Windows say “Windows protected your PC”?
Microsoft SmartScreen shows that screen for programs whose publisher it doesn’t recognize yet. RepairAmigo’s installer isn’t code-signed yet, so Windows can’t show a verified publisher name. That is why you see the warning and have to click More info → Run anyway.
Download the installer only from repairamigo.com. To check that your file is the one we published, open Command Prompt in your Downloads folder and run certutil -hashfile RepairAmigo-Setup.exe SHA256. The result must match the SHA-256 shown on the Download page.
Install on an Intel Mac
- On the Download page, click Download Mac installer. You get
RepairAmigo-Setup-Mac.dmg(version 1.0.1, 636.7 KB). - Open the disk image and run the installer. If macOS says it “can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer”, right-click (Control-click) the installer and choose Open, then Open again. Or go to System Settings (System Preferences) → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
- Enter your Mac password if asked, and choose your language.
- The installer installs the VirtualBox version that matches your macOS (table below), downloads the RepairAmigo VM, imports it, sets bridged networking and starts it.
- On macOS 10.13–10.14, macOS may block “system software from Oracle” while VirtualBox installs. Open Privacy & Security, click Allow, and restart if asked.
- When the VM screen shows its IP address, open that address in a browser to run Setup and create the Owner account.
| Your macOS | VirtualBox the installer uses |
|---|---|
| 10.13 High Sierra – 10.14 Mojave | 6.1 |
| 10.15 Catalina | 7.0 |
| 11 Big Sur – 12 Monterey | 7.1 |
| 13 Ventura or later | 7.2 |
Why does macOS say “unidentified developer”?
macOS Gatekeeper warns about apps that aren’t signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. RepairAmigo’s Mac installer isn’t signed or notarized yet, so you open it with right-click → Open or Open Anyway.
Download the installer only from repairamigo.com. To check the file, open Terminal and run shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/RepairAmigo-Setup-Mac.dmg. The result must match the SHA-256 shown on the Download page.
After the installer finishes
- Open RepairAmigo from any computer, tablet or phone on the same shop network, using the address shown on the VM screen (for example
http://192.168.1.50/). Bookmark it on every counter device. - The VM ships with demo data so you can explore first. Before your first real ticket, the Owner can wipe the demo data.
- Keep the computer on and awake during business hours.
- Back up the entire VM and run it on another computer as easily as you installed it.
If something goes wrong
I don’t see “Run anyway”
Click More info first; the Run anyway button appears after that. On a work computer managed by someone else, a company policy may block programs that aren’t signed. Ask the person who manages that computer, or use the manual VirtualBox steps.
My antivirus removed or blocked the installer
Some antivirus programs are cautious with installers that aren’t signed yet. If you downloaded it from repairamigo.com and its SHA-256 matches the Download page, restore it from quarantine or allow it, then run it again.
The VM download stopped
Check your internet connection and run the installer again. If it keeps stopping, email us (below).
“VT-x is disabled” or “AMD-V is disabled”
Turn on virtualization in the computer’s BIOS/UEFI settings, then run the installer again. See step 2 of the custom installation guide.
I can’t open RepairAmigo from another device
- Both devices must be on the same shop network, not a guest Wi-Fi.
- Type the full address with
http://. - Turn off any VPN on the device you are using.
My Mac has an Apple M1, M2, M3 or M4 chip
Those Macs are not supported and the installer won’t work on them. Install RepairAmigo on a Windows PC; the Mac can still open it in a browser.
I’d rather set it up by hand
Use the custom installation guide: download the VM, install VirtualBox and import it yourself.
FAQ
Is RepairAmigo free?
Yes. RepairAmigo is free.
What does the one-click installer do?
It installs VirtualBox if needed, downloads the RepairAmigo VM in your language, imports it, sets bridged networking and starts it. On Windows it then opens RepairAmigo in your browser.
Why do Windows and macOS show security warnings?
The installers aren’t code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper can’t show a verified publisher. On Windows click More info, then Run anyway. On a Mac, right-click the installer and choose Open, or click Open Anyway in Privacy & Security. Download only from repairamigo.com and compare the SHA-256 with the Download page.
Does RepairAmigo run on Apple M1, M2, M3 or M4 Macs?
No. RepairAmigo runs on Windows 10/11 PCs and Intel Macs with macOS 10.13 or later. Macs with Apple chips are not supported, but they can open RepairAmigo in a browser once it runs on a supported computer.
